The girls in Lubavitch Senior Girls School have been working tremendously hard in preparation for Kof Bais Shevat, the Yohrzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. The time of her Yohrzeit (coinciding with the mid-term break for the school) is also the global Kinus HaSheluchos, with women and girls converging on Crown Heights from every corner of the earth. SUMMER 2008 EXAM RESULTS

The girls of the Lubavitch Senior Girls School again achieved exceptional results in the GCSE exams taken at the end of Years 10 and 11, and the GCE Advanced and Advanced Supplementary Level, taken at the end of Year 11 and the one year Sixth Form. 12 pupils in year 11 sat an average of 7 GCSEs, and 9 pupils in year 10 took 2 or 3 subjects. A girl in Year 10, who commutes for 2 and a half hours daily, attained 3 A*s. 10 pupils leaving Year 11 achieved 5 or more A*-C passes at GCSE. Two of them achieved straight A*s and As.

At GCSE level there were 62% A* and As. Shaina Charkova, from Riga, Latvia, who joined our school in Year 9, attained 7 passes (A-C) at GCSE including an A*, an A, and a B in English.

LUBAVITCH SENIOR GIRLS SCHOOL STUDENTS AMONGST TOP TEN IN COUNTRY

Lubavitch students Ester Sudak and Roizy Itzinger were amongst the top ten in the country in GCSE Science: Single Award according to Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body.

Ester and Roizy sat their exams in the summer of 2007 at Lubavitch House School and the results show that out of 21,737 candidates, Ester and Roizy both achieved one of the highest overall marks in GCSE Science: Single Award.

Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel’s Managing Director, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their examinations.

“We send our congratulations to Ester and Roizy.”

EXCELLENT RESULTS ALL ROUND: SUMMER 2007

Including Ester and Roizy, nearly a third of the 2007 outgoing Year 11 class of Lubavitch Senior Girls School have certificates for six or more GCSE subjects in which they gained A* or A. Over 80% of the class have at least five subjects with grades from A* to C, all including Maths and English. They have thus received a good standard of general education during their years at Lubavitch Senior Girls School, in addition to a very high level of Kodesh study: Chumash with commentaries, Jewish Law, Chassidic Philosophy and other subjects.

This level of attainment for pupils in a non selective school puts the Lubavitch Senior Girls School among the top thirty five state non selective schools, according to the national GCSE results published by... ( Read More » )
