Over 60 British Chabad Emissaries Convene

Lubavitch UK held an inspiring two-day conference last month. Over 60 Chabad emissaries, rabbis and educators from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland gathered at the Lubavitch headquarters in North London.

Organised by Rabbi Pesach Efune and presided over by head emissary to Great Britain, Rabbi Nachman Sudak, the conference featured workshops on education, fundraising, the growing number of campus Chabad Houses, coping with the challenges of small communities, and meeting the growing needs of the community in troubled times.

"The decision that everyone should attend all workshops proved to be a big success as emissaries working in various areas were able to learn from each other as well as contributing different perspectives," said the organisers.

A high point of the evening was the keynote address by guest speaker Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, vice chairman of Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch, who flew in from New York. His inspiring words focused on not being weakened even by the recent events in Mumbai.

Kotlrasky, who is working to arrange a regional conference for emissaries in Europe, stayed on later in the evening for a farbrengen (Chassidic gathering) with the emissaries. The conference closed with a feeling that the past two days had been constructive and successful.
