Around the UK - Chabad Events Snapshot Oct/Nov 2012

Leeds Sukkah.jpgChabad Lubavitch has 36 centres based around the UK. Each month hundreds of events and activities take place at our Chabad Houses. Here is a brief snapshot of some recent Chabad events from around the country: 

Chabad of Hendon - Last week saw the beginning of the daily 'Daf Yomi' class led by Rabbi Hillel Gruber. The course focuses on Tractate Shabbos including the laws of Chanukah.

Chabad of Islington - Rabbi Mendy Korer was invited by the Islington Faith Forum (which organises school assemblies) to speak at the area's largest school - Highbury Grove. This was part of Islington Educational Authority's 'Peace Month' intitiative that it runs each September.

Chabad of Leeds - Over 80 adults and children attended 'Saturday Night Live' - a family event in the Chabad Sukkah with a bouncy castle, BBQ and live music. During the recent half term Chabad ran a mini-camp for Girls aged 10-13yrs. 

Chabad L'Chaim of Manchester - It has been a busy time recently in the North. In Manchester L'Chaim put on a number of events including 'Shwarma in the Sukkah' where 45 people gathered for a Jewish Business Network event in the City Centre. 40 people attended the Young Professionals 'Late Night Barbeque'. During the month of Tishrei 30 groups of volunteers visited 450 homes, hospitals, senior centres and hospices armed with a smile, a good word, a shofar or a lulav and etrog.

Chabad of Nottingham - 80 students and locals attended a fundraising event together with the local shul for Chai Cancer Care. A team of student volunteers helped to get raffle prizes and food donated and almost £1800 was raised. Chabad of Nottingham's Medical Ethics Course is well underway. Rabbi Yehuda Pink delivered the 2nd lecture in the series recently which was on abortion in Jewish Law. 

Chabad of Sheffield - Rabbi Y Golomb has recently taken on the chairmanship of the Rabbinical Council of the Provinces by personal request of the Chief Rabbi. Sheffield had a very international Tishrei with attendees from many different countries including Israel, Italy, USA, Turkey, Germany, France, Norway, South Africa and Iran. Rabbi Golomb's 'Tales of the Talmud' course began recently.
