Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School Rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted

Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School has been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted in its recent Ofsted inspection. The schools had previously been rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ in 2013 but is now rated as Good in four out of five areas it was inspected in.  

The report highlights the work of the senior team for the school – based in Stamford Hill - improved rating. Mrs Freeman received particular praise in the report which states. “The headteacher has worked with determination and vision to tackle the areas of weakness identified at the last inspection. She knows the school and its community very well and has been able to drive forward change at a considerable pace.”

There was also special mention for the Governors, Staff and pupils in the report, who have all played their part in attaining the Good rating. Looking at wider school life, the report says: “Opportunities to enrich learning are a regular feature of school life,” and “There is an explicit focus on tolerance and respect for both the school community and for those of other faiths and cultures.”

Following the inspection Mrs Freeman said: “I would like to pay tribute to the Hackney Learning Trust as well as the Governors, staff and pupils of the school who have helped us attain this Good rating. Our school is now a credit to our community and I am proud that we will be able to give our pupils a fantastic education to set them up for whatever path they choose for their futures.”

The school has been encouraged to expand its sixth form provision and from September 2016, for the first time, the school will have a Year 13 introducing a number of courses throughout Years 12 and 13 including a two year Health and Social Care qualification.

The school Principal, Rabbi Lew, who also received specific praise in the report said: “We are incredibly proud of our Good rating, and we intend to continue to improve however we can. We hope that our school will go from strength to strength and that we will eventually reach our goal – to be an Outstanding school.”
