Model Matza Bakery Tours Schools in Leeds

In the run up to Passover this week, Rabbi Eli Pink, education director of Lubavitch of Leeds toured a Model Matzah Bakery around three of the city’s schools: Allerton High School, Brodetsky Primary and the Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL).

Hundreds of pupils took part in a hands-on presentation which began with making separating wheat grain from stalks, milling flour and then making dough for matzot. The matzot were quickly baked in a specialist oven and Rabbi Eli Pink used to opportunity to quiz the children about their Passover knowledge while they munched on their matzot.

"The matzah bakery at GSAL was really enjoyable for all ages and everybody got something out of it. Rabbi Pink continually contributes huge amounts to helping jewish students at the school," said Mark Shaw, a student at GSAL.

Another student, Elliot Michaelson, said: "Many students from both junior and senior school came to the event. I found it fascinating and it was also wonderful to see all the students of different ages working together and having such fun baking their own matzah."
