A basic concept of Chanukah is 'Publicising the Miracle'. During our epoch of widespread assimilation this has become particularly important. Publicising the miracle of Chanukah is, in effect, affirming the eternal significance of our identity as Jews.
The Menorah also has universal significance for all humanity: The battle of the Jews against the ancient Syrian - Greeks was a battle for belief in one G‑d and for the universal moral values implicit in that belief. At the Giant Menorah there is generally a programme which prominent personalities light the Menorah, there is live music and doughnuts are distributed among the crowd. Make a family outing to visit the Giant Menorah and join in the Chanukah festivities in a big way!
