In 1897 the Lubavitch Yeshiva system was founded in the town of Lubavitch in White Russia. The distinguishing feature of the Lubavitch Yeshiva was and remains its concern for spiritual values. This leads to an inclusive outlook on society: seeing the links which join, rather than the divisions which divide.
At the same time the Lubavitch Yeshivos have an exemplary standard of Talmudic study. They often produce volumes of Hebrew essays in which are published the creative expositions of the students on topics in Talmudic and Chassidic thought.
In their spare time the students engage closely with the members of the wider Jewish community, both with adults and with youth. They run a variety of visitation programmes, organise day camps and tutor youthful and adult visitors to the Yeshiva precinct.
In Britain there are Lubavitch Yeshivot in London, Manchester and Leeds. They form part of the international Lubavitch Yeshiva system, with branches in France, Israel, the USA, South America, Canada, Australia and South Africa.
